Here's a video I put together from footage I took of my kids skiing. This is Alexander's 2nd time this year and 5th time total. Amelia's 1st time this year and 3rd time total...
Wow time flies. I know I've been bad about posting but didn't realize until just now that it has been a month! It's not like anything exciting has really happened over the last month...
Just a national white Christmas.
51" of snow fall at my house over about a 15 day period.
The real important thing.. I built an ice rink in my back yard. Below is an earlier image before we had a couple more feet of snow. Due to trial and error and trial some more we didn't get to skate on it until about Dec 23. It took me about 40 hours.. every night 8:30 to about 12:30 for 5 nights to get it ready and then lots of shoveling when the snow started falling. Why did I do it? To give my 4 and almost 7 year olds an experience they will have for a life time. It's not often you get to skate in your back yard in the lower mainland. While my 7 year old son has skated since a year September, the first time he has ever put a hockey stick to a puck on ice was in his own back yard. It's about 15' x 35'. It was skateable until Jan 4. On that day we had a bunch of friends over, I build a 6' high snow slide, we had skating and snow ball fights and a great time. Our own little winterlude. A great way to cap off a very memorable holiday season.
Here's a video of the first day on the rink and my kids..
